Lingnan Architecture
DESIGN / LAYOUT DESIGN
This was a project based around layout with images and text. The text came from a Wikipedia article about Lingnan Architecture, in which there was five distinct sections to discuss. Each of the sections were then put into their own category and came together with an index, cover page and binding allowing the project to be laid out in a book fashion. The images were designed and edited to add up to be a total of two colors, making each of them a duo-tone. Each of the images represent the article and its contents, with the colors to match the feel and information provided about the architecture.
The cover, as shown to the left, begins the book by shows what Lingnan Architecture is as well as where the information came from. Beyond that, it introduces the two colors that will be highlighted throughout the layout, purple (in the duo-tone image) and gold (in the Wikipedia Article under the title).
Below can be seen the layout of the interior of the book. These are shown in spreads as to give the full effect of the design. They begin at the cover page (seen directly after opening the cover) followed by the index, then the five sections.
Lastly, the back of the book ends with the same two colors used throughout, purple and gold. However, instead of using an image of Lingnan architecture, I decided to use an illustration. This allows the reader to have recognition of the image without a contrast to the front cover.
